Who am I? I am the son and grandson of people who follow Jesus. I am one who has been touched by God’s grace. I am one who is able to love because I am loved by the King. My name is Jonathan Thomas Spainhour, and I am Gods. Life story, and I mean the sort version? I grew up the son of a preacher and the grandson of one as well. I asked Jesus to come into my life when I was three, and until I was about 13 I pretty much stuck with him. From then I chose what typical Christian society calls a “backsliden” life. At the age of 25 I finally laid down everything before the cross. I started to walk into a promise that I had given to Jesus 22 years prior. I now try everyday to completely give all to Him. It is only by His grace that I am able to do so.
What does this missionary look like? Well I am pretty normal I think. I enjoy lots of outdoor activities, movies, horsing around with my buddies, reading, and time with friends. Music is a huge part of my life, even though the only thing I play very well right now is the radio, haha. On top of the normal things I enjoy; cooking is a passion of mine, especially when I can eat with a few friends in an intamate setting. I just love the fellowship that is enjoyed around food. I also love to teach. I really like it when I am able to explain something to someone, especially when it comes to God, the Bible, and lots of other things as well. Do you think you dream big enough? The apostle Paul once said "I am what I am, but for the Grace of God." (2nd Corinthians) I find myself in that same boat. There have been many stages of my life, some of which far less admirable than others. I have attempted many things, only to fail. To speak with me now one might say wow this guy sure has some big plans; and depending on the me you have met along the way, you could either want to come along side of me or you may be more inclined to snicker behind my back. Regardless of which of me you have met along the way, I hope that you will be able to meet the me that I have become. You see I have come to believe that there is a God who has created this world, and a reality that we are to live by. I also believe that one can find this reality that we are to live in by reading and applying the Bible to every area of our lives. You see when one applies principals like honesty, integrity, and morality to their lives; they are operating in this reality. This is what I believe Jesus is talking about when he says "Go and build the Kingdom of God." So to give you an incredibly long answer to this question, yes I do think I dream big enough. The more important thing is that I believe my dreams are very realistic and attainable.
![]() So what are these dreams of yours anyways? I want to change the world, seriously. My dreams may seem big to some, but to me they are just a consequence of what I believe God is calling me to. You see as I have come into relationship with Jesus, I have come to be passionate about the Bible as well. I believe that God is calling me to spread that passion through whatever means I can. I am currently preparing to attend a school called the BCC (Biblical Core Course) through University of the Nations, a division of YWAM, in which I will learn inductive methods to studying the Bible. From there I intend to staff the same course at another YWAM U of N location. By doing this I will be qualified to start leading this course in Australia, with the help of other qualified young men and women dedicated to the same cause. So if you start to think of the implications of what it could mean to have young men and women not only reading but applying the Bible around the world, you can start to understand that the effect can be quite impacting on a world wide scale. So if you have doubts about my personal ability to change the world, rest assured I do as well. The good thing is that it really isn't me doing the impacting it is the living, breathing, holy Word of God, the Bible. So to find out more about me or the BCC or inductive study please contact me by simply "clicking here" I would love to hear from you. Well now that I have answered some questions from you, I think it is my turn and I only have one. Do you dream big enough? Someone once told me that if my dreams are big enough to achieve on my own then they weren't from God, and you know what mine are way to big for me on my own, and my hope and prayer is that yours aren't either. Until I see you, Numbers 6 24-26, amen. Embrace the Glory
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the word. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us... And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Nelson Mandela As always I love any feed back on this sight, pics, articles or whatever.
