DTS - What is it ?

The DTS is an intensive Christian training course for 18 -35 year olds that runs for 5 1/2 months throughout Australia and then into Asia/Pacific. This practical mobile training school is designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivating a living relationship with God and identifying their unique individual gifts and callings in God.

Cross-cultural exposure, reconciliation, tolerance and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to reach current and future generations and answer the call to "Go into all the world and disciple all nations" (Matthew 28:19).

DTS is about Christian character, but it's more than theory. It's a journey into the heart of God - a journey of discovery, where God's ways become real and vital in a student's daily life. The emphasis is not so much on knowledge gained as on principles applied; not on information but transformation; not on heads filled with facts but hearts filled with faith.

If you are looking for a training course that will sharpen your perception of God and His purposes our Reef to Outback DTS's are an excellent start.

What makes us different ?

The Reef to Outback DTS is a unique training program which runs over 5 1/2 months taking you literally from the Great Barrier Reef to the Outback of Australia and then beyond into Asia/Pacific. We utilize 4WD vehicles to provide the necessary transport while in Australia which enables our ministry to reach out into the remotest areas.

One major difference in our DTS is that we integrate the lectures and outreach. This enables you to take full advantage of the principles learnt whilst traveling into various communities. (field assignment).

What this means for you

The school is broken into several phases so that you receive a number of weeks lectures then get involved with some outreach.

After each phase we return to our Reef to Outback home and familiar surroundings.

We use various locations for lectures - from the classroom through to sitting around a camp fire in the wilds of Australia or hearing a speaker in Asia.

As we bring excellent speakers to you through the different phases of the DTS, there is more time for you to process what you have been taught.

You get exposure to a variety of outreach opportunities that will help you discover your ministry giftings.

Each DTS will have 2-3 weeks of camping in some of Australia's finest areas. (We have an excellent time!!)

Our DTS's tie in with long term ministry focuses so that your contribution will help the next year's DTS and the community you minister in.

DTS - The Purpose

1. To equip the Christian messenger to grow in relationship with God, providing a solid Biblical foundation and encouraging the development of Christ like character through the personal application of truth.

2. To challenge the Christian messenger to become involved in missions and world evangelisation with YWAM or other ministries, awakening a burden for reaching the unreached, a vision for influencing all areas of society, and a commitment to strengthening the global Body of Christ.

3. To impart to the Christian messenger an understanding of YWAM International, it's foundational values, calling and opportunities for service.

4. To prepare the Christian messenger for service in the local church and community.

Camping

Several weeks into our lecture phase, we take our classroom away from the lecture room to enjoying the outdoors around a campfire in the wilds of Australia. We take you on a two week journey of adventurous 4 wheel driving and camping.

Smell the fresh air, gaze at the stars in the nightlight, freshen up in a cool river or just sit and relax in the shelter of the Australian bush. Wet your taste buds on some great tucker, sniff the aroma of sizzling sausages wafting past, wipe the dripping molasses from damper cooked over the camp fire - you'll love it.

You are bound to get to know one another like you never have before. Surrounded by God's creation, spend this time out deepening your friendships with students and the Creator.
