Previous News BriefsRolling, rolling, rolling...
We were pondering the dynamics of this when we realised that in our back yard sat two 4WD vehicles with a seating capacity of 26 people, and we had a DTS commencing with 25 students and our growing staff team of 23. It didn't take a lot of adding up to realise that either we had to do something about our vehicle situation or there would be a number of young people running along behind the trailers as we headed out for ministry! To cut a long, but exciting story short, due to an amazing deal made available to our organisation, we have become the proud holders of 5 brand new Holden Jackaroos for the next 2 years! As I'm sure you can imagine, we are pretty excited about this answer to prayer! In a week's time, we will have 3 teams consisting of 38 young people out and about doing ministry all over the place - and not one of them will be without a seat! Miraculous Recovery! One wrong move 10 metres up on a vertical rock, John fell and was left with some very serious injuries. Four weeks into the DTS we were all shaken by John's accident. He recalls: "The doctors seemed quite shocked to find that I had a broken foot, wrist and a broken vertebrae as I wasn't showing signs of much pain - hospital was to become home for me for just over a week. During that time, God spoke the most to me!
Previous to the accident I had prayed and asked God to help me live in humility. It made it so much more evident in my life having to deal with it on the physical level. It was then that I realized I lived in pride in many other areas of my life as well. God really opened my eyes and revealed the secrets of my heart. God miraculously answered the prayers of many for my recovery. It was amazing. In less than a week I was up and hopping around with all my broken bones. My recovery was much quicker than expected. Thanks to all the prayers and Gods faithfulness, I am able to complete my DTS. Catie Ivey
I began my DTS here in mid January. During that time, I heard God speak clearly that I was to stay on with Reef to Outback and participate in the Basic Leadership School. It was a hard decision in one sense. I knew that after six months I was going to be ready to see my family, but, I couldn't walk away from His call. Well, I can definitely say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. During the short time that I've been on staff here, God has challenged me, stretched me, and taught me more than I ever thought possible. I'm realizing more and more what a hurting world that we live in, and what a privilege it is to be given the opportunity to love the Creator of the universe. God is slowly showing me how to live my life with that as my passion and I can't help but share it. It's taking time, but God is so faithful. I'm excited about what He has next for me and the many challenges that lie ahead!" Upcoming Opportunities
